Uspiritus was created in 2013 by a merger of Bellewood Children's Home and Brooklawn Child & Family Services.  Each year they hold a combined Thanksgiving dinner for the children who reside on both the Bellewood and Brooklawn campuses.  Troop 868 assists with the setup for this dinner and another local Boy Scout troop assists with the cleanup afterward.

Troop 868 scouts helped to setup and arrange tables and chairs, spread table covers, and set place settings for over 400 expected guests.  They hung and placed decorations; basically turning Brooklawn's gymnasium into a banquet hall.  Assisted by a handful of Brooklawn staff who directed the operation, they accomplished this in just over 2 hours.

Kenneth carefully placed flatware at each place setting. Preston had to stretch across a table to place paper leaves on the walls of the gym.
Preston held a box of salt shakers as Kenneth placed them on the tables. Adam followed a few steps behind with the pepper shakers.
Jacob sometimes had to press hard to get the colored paper leaves to adhere to the concrete block walls of the gym. Per instructions, the boys placed the leaves in clusters around the room.
Once decorated, the gym made a very attractive banquet hall. Volunteers from the Troop posed with some members of Uspiritus staff.  L to R, back row:  Scoutmaster Bob Meek, Amber (Uspiritus), Rachel (Uspiritus), Jacob, Committee Chairman Andy Rodabaugh, Adam, and Karen (Uspiritus).  L to R, front row:  Kenneth, Preston, and Samantha (Uspiritus).
