Each year Troop 868 sponsors a Fishing Derby to which we invite Cub Scouts from all area packs.  The event is held at a privately-owned pond where just about every Cub manages to catch a fish.  (Fishing is a lot more fun when one catches fish!)  Boy Scouts from Troop 868 run the whole show and cook lunch for everyone.  Trophies are awarded in several different categories, including some for casting contests that are done in an open field and don't require catching fish.  The weather was great for this year's event and we had a great turnout of Cub Scouts.

If he had a cane pole in his hand, Caden could have passed for Huckleberry Finn! Chris gets some help from his dad with one of his catches.
Den Leader Dana Heffley and James look like serious fishermen. Pack 868 Cubmaster Steven Frank seems to be having a good time.
This catfish caught by Mr. Greenwell wasn't the largest fish caught this day! Okay, so much for fishing ... when's lunch going to be ready?
